Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the city of Casablanca hosted the 2nd edition of Smart City Africa Casablanca on 17 and 18 May 2017 below the theme "Cities for all".
This international event organized by Casablanca Events and Animation, Has gathered high level speakers to discuss the themes of smart city and the challenges fronting cities today, to share knowledge and exchange best practices in order to Build innovative urban policies, to debate issues related to future mobility, resilience and climate change as well as urban and technological innovation
The President of the Council of the Casablanca-Settat Region, Mustapha BAKKOURY, testified that the economic capital of Morocco has all the privileges to be among the biggest metropolises in the world. The aim is to provide citizens with a pleasant living environment through tackling the different issues and challenges facing Casablanca. In this sense, the president of the city council of Casablanca Abdelaziz El OMARI cited the 2015-2020 development plan for the Greater Casablanca, which aims to make the city smart and sustainable, to connect the inhabitants with their city and to optimize mobility of residents and visitors in terms of time, cost and quality.
The Ministry of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy took part in this event through:
• Speech of the Minister at the opening ceremony, which was given by Mrs. Samia CHAKRI, Acting Director of the Digital Economy, where she revealed the need to adopt an approach focused on "digital transformation", and that must be proactive, Inclusive and sustainable of all the pillars of the city while Focusing on the citizens’ commitment towards the development of a smart society;
• E-gov project exhibition space open to general public during the two days of the event.
